Little Airplane & a Funny Story

I like this card for 2 reasons….1, I used my Silhouette Machine to cut out the airplane and 2, its a little 3x3 card. For some reason, I think it’s cute to give kids small cards. Maybe because it fits in their little hands well?
I made this card for my nephew, Lucas who is trying to stop sucking his thumb. I was telling my husband the story about how Lucas set a goal to stop sucking his thumb but quickly “fell off the wagon” and said it was just too hard. So my little guy is the same age as Lucas, 5 years old. Lucas called to talk to Gabriel the other day and first words out of Gabriel’s mouth are “I heard you fell off a wagon and started sucking your thumb.” I laughed really hard!
So, I’ll just keep this little card tucked away until he meets his goal.

Healthy School Valentine's snack

Last Valentine's Day I signed up to bring treats to my daughter's class for her Valentine's Day party. Her teacher asked if I would like to bring a healthy snack. It's pretty easy bringing a big batch of cupcakes with more frosting than cake or sweet sugar cookies with sprinkles. I had to think a bit about a fun way to bring a healthy snack so I came up with strawberries and string cheese.

To make the strawberries look like hearts I simply cut the strawberries in half and then cut a V notch out of the top. These were a big hit with the kids...after all who doesn't like fruit on a stick?!

I’m back with a simple card and bookmark combo. The tag is removable from the card and can be used as a bookmark. I love finding multiple purposes for things. :) And as you might know from reading my posts, I love to read, so I love making bookmarks! I love opening a book I’m reading and seeing a little bundle of art waiting there to save my spot!

I wanted to show you a card today using a Stampaive stamp from the OCS store. I paired it with some Echo Park paper.And I used some Stickles on her boots, belt, and headband cause she really looked so wonderfully dressed that I thought she needed to sparkle a bit too :)

I think I need some pink sparkly boots, but I’m not sure where I’d wear them too?!

I realize Christmas has passed, but I had this super sweet Whimsy image all colored up so I thought “why not get a jump start on next years cards!?” haha

I used my copics to color this image up and added some twine and viva decor pearls to my card…simple and sweet.

And speaking of simple and sweet,It’s kinda tricky writing blog posts with a head cold and so I’m gonna leave it at this. :)

I used this wonderful Whimsy Stamp called Into The Farm for my card. I love the Echo Designs from Whimsy Stamps, especially the vintage ones. I only used part of this stamp and the rest of it is, just as wonderful as this part. I love anytime I can add a masculine or neutral card to my stack cause it seems that I NEVER have a boy card when I need one.

Someone has too much time on their hands

I don’t really have too much time on my hands, after all I am a work at home Mom of 3 kiddies. But I do have a special talent for diverting myself from “what I’m suppose to be doing". So the other day I took out some polymer clay for the kids to make a Christmas ornament with. My little guy started and asked me to make Harry Potter’s head.

As a side note, he’s never seen Harry Potter but knows that Harry Potter is awesome. I may or may not have something to do with him thinking this. So the little man’s Harry Potter figure turns into a 2 hour play session where I make these! I think his figure (above) turned out great, what a little artist.

I had the chance to play with this new Kraftin Kimmie stamp again. This time I paired it with some of my favorite October Afternoon papers. This card and stamp brought a big smile to my little guys face. He LOVES dogs. When he sees a card I've made that he really likes he asks "whose that for?" I think I need to start a book for him with all the cards that he LOVES. :)

Numbers Ahoy!!

In addition to my star obsession, I also love numbers. I love the idea of random numbers on things, so I recently added some numbers to some items around my house. I used my Silhouette to cut out some vinyl and the number 3 is a stencil cut with my silhouette and then I painted it on the fabric.

Now, these things don't usually sit in a bundle like this, I just moved them for the sake of the picture. They aren't even in the same room. And my decor doubles as a teaching tool for my kiddies ;) I have a really fun alphabet project in the works for my son's room...can't wait to show you that one.

You're the best! Xpress It Tape Review

I really can't get enough of Mo's images. This one is from Stamping Bella. And the papers are from My Mind's Eye and I LOVE this color combination.

I wanted to introduce you to Xpress It tape if you haven't already tried it. I have personally been using Xpress It tape for a few months now and have had great success with it. It was the perfect thing to attach my fence on this card. I use it to adhere my background papers to my cards. Here's a picture of what it looks like in case you've never seen it before. It comes in a roll and seems to last forever. I especially love that I can cut off strips of as much or as little as I want and love that it sticks well.

I never have a baby card when I need one, so I thought this Mo Manning was perfect for the sweet baby girl card. If you’ve read my blog, you know that I also LOVE pink. Can’t get enough of it. I also added a fair amount of Viva Decor pen pearls to this card. I seriously love these pens!

Last Minute Halloween Bags

I made a little trip to Michael's today and found these fun canvas bags for $.99. I like them cause they are not too big. The bags we had before were huge and drug on the ground when the kids were trick or treating.
I used my Silhouette to cut out the heat transfer.

I know mustache's are trendy, but I have had a "thing" for them for quite a while now. My Grandpa had a mustache his entire life and it was his pride and joy. So I tend to notice when someone has a well groomed stache. ;)

This project took 20 minutes to complete. A quicky...craft.

mmmm Jam

It's been a while since I've posted anything food related so I have to go on record to say... freezer jam is really the ONLY way to go. For a few years I've been making freezer jam and it has resulted in my turning up my nose to that store bought jam.

Our neighbor has a large raspberry patch that he sells berries to farmers markets and such. He offered to let me come pick some berries and I said a quick YES! My friend and I went with our bowls in hand and spent and 1 1/2 hours blissfully picking berries. I won't bore you with the details about how I was imagining I was in a Jane Austen novel, berry picking with friends. lol

When we returned home, the kiddies had to have quite a few of the fresh berries before I shooed them away.
Freezer jam is soooo easy to make. All you need is berries, sugar, and pectin/freezer jam packets. The recipe is on the back of the freezer jam pectin packet. I love that I get to control how much sugar I'm adding (I always add less than it says because I want to taste the berry and not the sugar) and I love that I can leave big chunks in my jam. mmm

Mini Folder Tag

I used CC Designs stamp set Butterflies Postage set to make this gift tag. I really love a cute little tag or card that fits on a present. My papers are from MME Happy Go Lucky.

And I used a Lilac Viva Decor pen! These pens are so cool. I love them because you can totally go crazy on your cards with them and not feel like you are wasting. I use to try to make really ornate/decorative cards but always hated giving them away because I was sure they would end up in the waste bin. So I finally decided to use a more Clean And Simple approach. Now I don’t even give a second thought to giving my cards away. So Viva Decor Pens are PERFECT for me. Use as much as you want, these pens last forever!

Pretty envelope

I found a picture of this project I created a while back from Crafter’s Companion. I used the Crafter’s Companion Ultimate Tool and Boxer Boards and followed the instructions provided on the accompanying DVD. The scoring board is fun and easy to use. I made this for Crafter Companion’s booth at CHA.

Cute Fall

I was pretty excited when I opened up My Mind’s Eye paper pack and saw this chevron pattern. It’s a pretty hot pattern right now, huh? I colored up this Your Next Stamp Apple Pie Cutie to pair with it. This little girl could be me, 10 years ago, ok maybe 20 years ago. Not only did my Mom put pigtails on me every day of my life, but we have an apple orchard at my parents house. Every day after school before going in the house I would grab and apple or 2 off the trees and go inside for an after school snack. yum! I love Fall and apple’s are definitely up on my list of favorite parts of Fall.

I want to show you a bookmark I made using one of my favorite Stampaive/Mo Manning images. I love Oxford, all ready for school. My little man started preschool a few weeks ago and this reminds me of him. In fact on his first day of school, I told him I wanted him to look nice so he came out of his room with a stripped polo and a clip on tie. It was pretty cute stuff. I managed to talk him out of the tie, mostly because I knew he’d take it off after about 5 minutes and lose it.

I’m going to start off by apologizing for my gushing about Fall and Halloween….This is my favorite time of the year. Love sweater weather. Love pumpkins. Love Chocolates. LOVE dressing up. Love falling leaves. Love Corn Mazes. Love eating soups. Really I could go on and on forever. Fall just makes me happy. My birthday is also in Fall. (end of gushing)

I really love a little 3x3 card, especially for kids. Let’s face it, most kids don’t even notice if a card is homemade. They are interested in the pressies! Little cards are quicker to make and less “stuff” goes on it.

I have a 7 year old girl living at my house and she is all sparkle. She loves dressing up in dresses, skirts. She especially likes getting into my make-up! And every time she’s been dressing up, she make a grand entrance into the room and I say “Hello Gorgeous!” So how fitting is this card and sentiment for her? I made these cupcakes a while back for a family get together. I bought an assortment of Candy bars (snickers, heath, reeses pb cup, herseys) and added them to my cupcakes. If you used the Hot Fudge recipe I talked about HERE it would really put these chocolate cupcakes over the TOP! These were a big hit and so easy to make. Today is my last post for Crafter’s Companion. I wanted to say Thank you so much to Bindy, Denise and all the fabulous DT gals for letting me design with you and for the fun Chats! It was such a difficult decision to part with this fabulous company and team, but “life” necessitated it. I have LOVED being apart of this fabulous team!

A few projects with my Silhouette heat transfer

I had to post something about Harry Potter considering the last movie is out soon. I've been excited for this for MONTHS. I am a huge HP fan and not ashamed to say it. I used Silhouette Heat Transfer material for my Muggle shirt.

I made this onsie for my BF as a joke.

And finally one of my favorite projects. I used Silhouette heat transfer material to make this Scrabble tile pillow. The hubby and I are big scrabble fans and love playing it when we have a chance.

Not a weight loss ad

Have you ever seen one of those weight loss ads where the lighting is bad the person has bad posture and is frowning in the BEFORE pic? And then in the AFTER pic they are smiling, &sucking in their belly?

I’m about to show you the equivalent of those pictures with my craft project.

Last week I told you how I was itching to repurpose something. So on the same trip I found this tiered dish for $1. The price is right.

Not so impressive right? I slapped a little paint on this baby and viola.

The AFTER (with sweets to make it look even better)

A cute little dish for a party. I can see some cute little cupcakes sitting on this for a tea party.

My Old Man

Here’s the card I made for my Dad this year. This LOTV image is beyond cute! And fishing is the perfect theme for my Dad. And of course my card has to have a little SASS to it by calling him “My Old Man”! My Dad likes to tell jokes…and always in the first person. So when he starts saying something like “The other day I walked into a bar…” you know to brace yourself for a really lame joke. The tip off: he doesn’t go to bars. lol
We went out to dinner with my Dad at a Brazilian restaurant called Tucanos. Let me just say, it is heavenly. Love the Brisket and love the grilled pineapple!

A year older, a lot cuter

Sometimes a when you start out to make a card it doesn’t end up the way you originally intended right? I stamped this sweet Stampaive image on patterned paper with the intent to cut it out to paper piece it. Well after it was stamped I decided it was adorable just the way it was. No copic…I know shocking right?

So as a result I have a CAS card and best part is it was really quick to make! Lately I am all about the CAS approach. It might be because my mojo is missing or maybe it’s because life has gotten busy for me or maybe just my style has evolved. I’ve let my self not put all the “fuss” into it and be ok with that.

Today is my DD 7th birthday, but I don't have a pic of her card yet so I'm showing you a quickie TY card I made. I recently received some PTI goodies and I LOVE these cloud dies! I colored on the kraft cardstock with my copics and then added some Smooch, Stickles, and Viva Decor pens.

Happy Saturday! I want to show you a simple and sweet project. In my Fairyopolis Card Making Kit there was this plain wood butterfly. And it was asking to be painted up. When I said this kit was HUGE I wasn’t kidding. There are so many options and no need to skimp on your projects. I used some Acrylic paints / Brush and a bunch of rub-ons from the Fairyopolis card kit.

The other day I was itching to repurpose something. So I went to the Thrift Store and found this star wreath for $3.

So I whipped out my paints and changed the red to a more vibrant version and pulled out some aqua. Then I added some burlap ties. And viola a Memorial Day/4th of July wreath that I love and makes me smile when I see it.

It’s graduation time and I want to show you a graduation card I made for my nephew using a Stampaive image from Mo Manning. Really these images are just darling. I don’t think I’ve seen a Mo image I don’t like! My papers are Jilli Bean Dutch Mustard.

May and June are the busiest times of the year for us…graduations, mother’s day, lots of birthdays, father’s day…the list goes on and on. And I am enjoying all the family time that comes with this season!

It's the first of the month and that means it's time for another Crafter's Companion Challenge. This month we want to see summer colors or summer themed cards!
I used the the Fairyopolis Card Making Kit. And let me tell you this kit is huge. There are so many fun crafty things in it. The images in the Fairyopolis collection are so feminine and beautiful. I love the vintage look to this sweet fairy. One great aspect of this kit is that there are 2 sizes of cards. My card base, the Fairy image, & rub ons are all from the Fairyopolis card making kit.

You are Treasured

I wanted to share a treasure chest that I made using Crafter’s Companion new boards for the Ultimate Tool. I have a pirate loving 4 year old and he spotted this treasure chest while I was making this and I couldn’t keep him away. He was so excited. My daughter has requested a treasure chest of his own. Paper but not a card

I made this rosette wreath with pages from an old book. I found the tutorial for this HERE. And I love it…but it took for eva to make! But I don’t mind keeping my hands busy while watching TV. So 1 old book and a lot of glue sticks later I have this sweet wreath hanging on my door. And as you can tell my my blog title, I’m a HUGE Jane Austen Fan so the Silhouette is to do with that obsession. Also I added a bit of color with some Martha Stewart punch butterflies.
I like that I can change the colors on this pretty easily and give it a different look later on. I’ll post pics when I get to that. But for now, I’m lovin it the way it is.

I’m back with another post for the Crafter’s Companion Blog. I made a gift bag using Sheena Douglass’s Paint fusion. The stamps are from the Butterfly set. I stamped the images onto my plain gift bag. Then I applied my paints using the stamp as my guide. I like the way this turned out and think I will be making more gift bags. I realized I never posted this card when I was Mel Jen’s guest designer of the month so here it is. The papers are so very girly from Imaginesce. I have a six year old that is obsessed with painting nails and toes. It is our special time together and we both love it. We like to have “salon chat” while we paint our fingers. So this card makes me think of her.

I have a card to show you today using a Kraftin Kimmie stamp. This stamp is going to get a lot of use from me. My Dad, brothers, & husband love fishing and take quite a few trips each year together. Good Male stamps are hard to come by and this is one of them. Again I tried to keep my card clean and not to “fussy” since it is for a guy.

I paired it up with October Afternoon Campfire paper. Can I make a confession? I have an aversion to squirrels. And I didn’t notice until after I was done that they were prominently displayed on my card. lol I guess its good this card is for someone else right?

Flower Pot

Today is my first post for the Crafter’s Companion Blog. I'm also on the challenge DT but this is my first post for the CC Information blog. I was giddy when I opened my package to find Acrylic paints, brushes and a bunch of fun stamps. They are from Sheena Douglass’s Paint fusion. The stamps are from the Butterfly set. I used a plain terracotta pot and stamped my images onto the pot. I applied my paints using the stamp as my guide. And lastly I stamped the image over the top of the paints. I love that these stamps, paints, & brushes let you feel like a real artist. I had a blast trying this out.

My card today is featuring this sweet Belles N Whistles stamp Lemonade Anyone? I used some burlap again. Someone asked before where you get burlap. I got mine from the craft store (JoAnn’s) It is sold by the yard.
And speaking of lemonade I wanted to share a link for some really yummy Brazilian Lemonade. It is a bit different from the lemonade you might be use to and is made with limes. But it is so delicious!

Here’s one for the fun of it. My mojo’s gone missing lately and I needed to get some DT assignments completed so I needed to get my juices flowing with a card just for the fun of it. And I really like how this turned out.
My sweet friend sent me a few of these Pergamano images and I REALLY love them. I used a pin I made and have lots more of these in my Etsy shop.

Boobie traps

A month or so ago, I showed you my kiddies new toy cubbies. My friend Sparkle was wondering what was in the bin labeled Boobie Traps bin so here it is. Little Mr. likes action movies. Especially Peter Pan, Goonies, Hook, & Karate Kid. So his bin is full of things every 4 year old needs in a tough situation.
