Curly Q Bow – Curly Ribbon

004

The other day I showed you a card with some hair bows on it as part of the embellishment.

I’m back with a tutorial on how to curl ribbon. I do this for hair bows but thought it might be useful info for any paper crafters who don’t know how to do this.

You will need:

grossgrain ribbon (I used 1/4 inch for the above bows)

wooden dowel

clothes pin

You wrap your ribbon around the dowel as shown.  Then you place your dowels in the oven at 275 degrees for 20-25 minutes.  Here are a few tips I’ve found when doing this.  I like my ribbon loosely curled. So I wrap my ribbon with spaces between it. If you want tighter curls wrap the ribbon with out any space.  The bigger the dowel the loser the curl.

And look at all this gorgeous ribbon waiting for your projects!
